Pamex Raises €45,346 for Sunflower Children’s Hospice
Linking Little Lives: An incredible journey made possible by our team, partners and community
We are incredibly proud to announce that Pamex has raised €45,346 for Sunflower Children’s Hospice, following our Linking Little Lives fundraising campaign and the extraordinary support we received from our employees, families, customers, corporate partners, schools and the wider community.
At the heart of the campaign was our biggest challenge yet – a 245km relay walk from Dublin to Castlebar, completed by members of the Pamex team continuously over more than 36 hours.
245km. Seven counties. One important cause.
The Linking Little Lives challenge took place in June, with members of our team setting off from Dublin and walking continuously to the site of the new Sunflower Children’s Hospice in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
The 245km distance was chosen for a very important reason. It represents the long and difficult journey that many families in the west of Ireland currently face when travelling to Dublin to access specialist palliative and respite care for their children.
Our route took us through seven counties – Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Westmeath, Roscommon, Galway and Mayo – before finally reaching Castlebar.
At the beginning of the challenge, the team was given a fantastic send-off by supporters including RTÉ broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan and Martina Jennings, CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.
After more than 36 hours on the road, reaching Castlebar was an incredibly special moment for everyone involved.
Bringing the community together in Castlebar
The fundraising didn’t stop when the relay finished.
To mark the team’s arrival and continue raising funds, we hosted a Family Fun Day at The Mall in Castlebar, bringing together Pamex employees, families, local schools and members of the community.
It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate what had been achieved while continuing to raise awareness and funds for a facility that will make a lasting difference to children and families across the west of Ireland.
€45,346 raised for Sunflower Children’s Hospice
Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who supported Linking Little Lives, we were delighted to present €45,346 to Sunflower Children’s Hospice.
The campaign built on a wide range of fundraising activities undertaken by Pamex, including a Family Day in Portarlington, wine and cheese evening, schools colouring competition across Mayo and Galway, skydive, and generous support from our corporate partners.

“The 245km journey from Dublin to Castlebar was challenging, but it gave real meaning to what we were trying to achieve. Families in the west of Ireland should not have to travel long distances to access specialist care for their children, and we wanted our challenge to physically represent that journey while helping to bring these vital services closer to home.
“We received incredible support from our employees, families, schools, customers, corporate partners and the wider community. There has been a real sense of people coming together for something that will make a lasting difference. We are incredibly proud to support the development of Sunflower Children’s Hospice and the families it will serve on the western seaboard.”
Supporting children and families closer to home
All funds raised will directly support the development of Sunflower Children’s Hospice in Castlebar, a dedicated facility providing specialist palliative and respite care for children and young people living with life-limiting illnesses.
The hospice will also provide emotional, practical and bereavement support to families across the west of Ireland.
The eight-bed facility will include family accommodation, hydrotherapy baths, sensory and play therapy rooms and garden access from each bedroom, with an on-site multidisciplinary team providing round-the-clock specialist care in a warm, family-centred environment.

“Walking 245km was a particularly powerful way to highlight why this service is so important. For families caring for a child with a life-limiting illness, having access to specialist palliative and respite care closer to home can make an enormous difference.”
